Escape from Playtime

Early Access

1-4 playersOpen beta: October 1-4, 2026Early Access: October 21, 2026

Escape from Playtime reaches players on October 21, 2026 in Steam Early Access. That build plans the full eight-character roster, one starter zone, and a core enemy lineup. The eight character names have not been announced. The party size is 1 to 4 players total, solo or you plus up to 3 friends.

The app has no price yet. Launch is planned on Steam, and the open beta a few weeks earlier is a separate window from October 1 to 4. Early Access is how the community shapes the game, with 1.0 later. A separate team from the Poppy Playtime chapter team is making it.

The small purple cat logo marks the game.

What October 21 is planned to ship

Compare the short test with the October build when you need both crew sizes. October 21 is the build on this route. The earlier test uses a different cap, so the two clocks stay apart.

Read October 21 as the Early Access day and the first week of October as the beta only. Mixing those clocks is how a crew shows up a week late or a week early.

The earlier open beta, from the morning of October 1 through the evening of October 4, allows up to 8 players and recommends 4. It keeps the first four shifts and does not field every Smiling Critter.

Setting, team, and the trailer

The factory visit is set some time after the Hour of Joy, the day the toy experiments rebelled against Playtime Co. employees. You still play a Smiling Critter in procedurally generated classrooms, warehouses, testing labs, and dark corridors. The Voice still sends the crew after parts, and A Better Place remains the promised home for loyal toys. The beta leaves out puzzles, enemy types, and lore-focused content, and Early Access is the period meant to close that gap over time.

Press play for the release trailer. The same film is on the home page. Brandon James, game director at Mob Entertainment, called Playtime Co. a huge, awful place with more hiding inside it than anyone has seen, and he tied the multiplayer work to surprises and a jump scare or two. Zach Belanger and Seth Belanger founded the studio in 2015.

The Hour of Joy is the earlier event this visit follows, not a mode you select on a menu.

Store limits that are already public

Windows 10/11 is the operating system, and the PC needs a 64-bit processor. Controller support is partial, some controllers fail, and keyboard plus mouse is optimal. Full audio is English, plus French, Italian, German, Spanish - Spain, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese - Brazil, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. Family Sharing is on. The age ratings are DEJUS 14, German 16, and IGRS 18.

The genres are Online Co-Op, Horror, Extraction, and PvE, with Single-player, Multi-player, Co-op, and Online Co-op. The price has not been announced yet. The in-game lobby is still being tuned, so friends lists on Steam remain the reliable invite path into the starter zone.

One starter zone means the October build is not a promise of every wing of the factory on the first day.

The core enemy lineup is who hunts you in the starter zone. More rejected toys can arrive in later updates.

The eight-character roster is a plan for Early Access, and the beta's smaller playable set is the earlier limit.

Early Access is how the community shapes the game toward 1.0, so balance can change after October 21.

The small purple cat logo is how you recognize this Steam app.

October 21, 2026 in Steam Early Access is the planned day, and the full eight-character roster is part of that plan. The eight names are still unknown.

One starter zone is the space Early Access opens, so the whole factory is not the day-one promise.

A core enemy lineup is the hunter set for that zone, and not every rejected toy appears at once.

The party remains 1 to 4 players total even though the earlier beta allowed a larger test lobby.

A budget for October 21 has to wait, because the price has not been announced.

Launch is planned on Steam, and the game runs on Windows rather than a console or a phone.

Early Access is the period when the community shapes the game, with 1.0 later. Later updates are expected to add zones, Critters, and features from that feedback.

A separate team from the Poppy Playtime chapter team is making this project, so chapter patches do not apply here.

The release trailer here is the same film as on the home page. It starts when you press play.

Brandon James called the factory a huge awful place with more hiding in it than anyone has seen, which matches the procedural rooms.

Zach Belanger and Seth Belanger founded Mob Entertainment in 2015, and that studio is both developer and publisher here.

DEJUS 14, a German 16, and IGRS 18 are the age ratings, and Family Sharing is on.

The small purple cat logo on this route marks the same Steam app.

In the starter zone you still crawl, jump, and climb as a Smiling Critter, scavenge for tools, and use hiding spots and alternate routes when the hunters close in.
