Barry the cart
A shift in Escape from Playtime is a loot run that ends at Barry the cart. You collect scattered loot and resources, deliver it to Barry the cart, and hit your quota by filling the green quota. The beta opens only the first four shifts, and a split group is told to use the glowsticks.
Collect as much loot as you can before the halls close in. The green block is the quota color, not a live percent and not a player counter. After a shift, Barry's progress bar sometimes stays above zero, which is one of the open-beta faults.
Four steps and the first four shifts
The loop is short on purpose. Step one is scavenging. Parts and resources are scattered, and the Voice is the one sending the crew after them. Step two is the handoff: deliver it to Barry the cart. Step three is the green quota itself. Step four is only for a crew that has already come apart, because glowsticks are how a separated player marks the path.
During the open beta the shift list is locked to the first four. Later shifts are not part of that test, so a crew that clears the fourth one has reached the end of the beta route. The cart is still the exit condition on each of those four. Leaving early with a thin pile does not hit your quota.
A thin delivery that never fills the green quota is a failed shift even if the crew survived the walk back. The Voice asked for parts and resources, and Barry is where that ask is counted.
Zoomies and a split crew
Zoomies increases everyone's movement speed. The boost has no published percent. The in-game line is "The zoomies have struck. Everyone's movement speed is increased!" Treat it as a whole-crew status, not a private buff, and do not plan a route around a percent.
When the group splits, proximity voice gets thin because you hear players who are nearer. There is no in-game text chat to replace that, and a microphone is not required. Drop glowsticks along the way you still intend to use. A panicked whisper can still end the run even while the crew is fast.
Place glowsticks at turns you can name out loud, such as a LUNCH door or a mural, because a faster crew under Zoomies loses sight of one another sooner. The speed boost still has no miles-per-hour figure.
What the cart does not show
Barry is a role, a cart the crew fills, not a character with a known personality. The green quota is the success mark. Barry's progress bar sometimes does not reset to 0% after a shift, and that fault sits with the other open-beta issues. The color beside the steps is only the quota color.
Tools you pick up on the way are on the gear page. The rooms you cross, including classrooms and testing labs, are on the factory page. If a shift hangs after a revive or a fast disassemble, that is a beta fault, not a step in the quota loop.
A shift still asks the crew to work the room they are in, because rejected creations hunt the same halls the loot sits in.
The first four shifts are a beta lock, not a promise that the Early Access factory will keep the same four-stop list.
Glowsticks are a path mark for a separated player, not a weapon, and they have no damage number.
If the green quota is filled, the leave condition is met even when the progress bar later fails to fall back to zero.
Steam friends lists are the practical way to gather the crew while the in-game lobby is still being tuned.
Scattered parts only help the quota after they reach Barry, so a pocket full of loot is unfinished work until the green mark fills.
The first four shifts are the whole beta route, and a crew that wants a fifth stop has to wait for a later build.
Glowsticks do not replace proximity voice, they mark the floor for the moment voice drops because someone walked too far.
A Zoomies alert on the monitors is a crew-wide speed increase, and it still has no miles-per-hour figure.
Leaving the cart with an empty green quota means the shift condition was missed, even if every player is still standing.
Rejected creations keep hunting while you haul loot, so the walk back to Barry is part of the shift and not a safe hallway.
If the progress bar fails to fall after a clear, trust the filled green quota you just saw rather than a stuck number.
Steam friends lists gather the four recommended players while the in-game lobby is still being tuned for this test.
A split group should agree on one landmark, then use the glowsticks between that landmark and the cart.
